THE PRODUCER

Luis Anibal explored specialty coffee production as a means to build a more secure future for him and his family. Now specialising in micro-lots of exotic varietals (Maragesha, Yirgacheffe, Ombligon, Gesha and this unique Primitivo) Luis and his farm Villa Betulia, based in Huila, are very much on the world map for exceptional coffees.

CLOUD

CREATIVE COFFEES FROM
PROGRESSIVE PRODUCERS.

Another rare cultivar from his farm, Bourbon Primitivo arabica has a grape-like, jammy depth when paired with this processing style. This micro-lot had 45 hours of aerobic fermentation before slow sun-drying, delivering exceptional, complex and winey flavours. We’ve also been roasting a micro-lot of Luis Anibal’s 100% Java arabica and it also demonstrates his mastery of varietal and process, with layers of strawberry, malty chocolate and perfumed aromatics

Please note we only hold a limited stock of these products, but we aim to roast at least two times a week (T&Cs apply)

How to brew

We normally lean toward filter brewing for the producer series as the method highlights the more complex and delicate flavours in lighter roasted coffee. As always, we default to the industry standard of 60g of coffee per litre of water as a starting point.

Tasting notes

A truly delicious, complex coffee with a winey, juicy flavour and coating mouth-feel. Notes of berry fruits, port wine and malted chocolate, there’s a gentle tartness in the brew to balance the sweet, fruity flavours. Best suited to soft brew, but with careful dialling in you can experience a sweet, fruity and rewarding espresso.
