THE PRODUCER
THE PRODUCER
Long Miles founders, Ben and Kristy Carlson, moved to Burundi from the US in 2011 and saw that both injustice and poor farming practices permeated the country’s newly privatized coffee industry. Farmers now travel from miles around to access the excellent facilities and better prices found at their Ninga Washing Station, supported by over 700 local coffee producers from the Ninga community in Kayanza Province.

CITY
BRIGHT, MODERN,
FRUIT-FORWARD FLAVOURS.
Red Bourbon arabica always delivers a sugary, flavoursome cup profile, especially when grown at high altitude. Perfectly ripe coffee cherries are pulped and fermented before being fully washed in clean, mountain water and gently slow-dried on raised beds, lending the coffee a beautiful fragrance, fruity notes and a balanced, citrus finish.
Please note we only hold a limited stock of these products, but we aim to roast at least two times a week (T&Cs apply)
How to brew
We normally lean toward filter brewing for the producer series as the method highlights the more complex and delicate flavours in lighter roasted coffee. As always, we default to the industry standard of 60g of coffee per litre of water as a starting point.
For espresso try a 1:2.5 brew ratio and shot times of around 24-30 seconds.
Tasting notes
Caramelly and fruity in the aroma, balanced with a deliciously, full body and expressive stone fruit and sugary flavours. The medium roast profile chosen here gives the espresso a toasty-fruity depth and pleasing texture, but the coffee works equally well as batch brew for mugs of delicious breakfast coffee.
