THE PRODUCER
THE PRODUCER
Great Rift Coffee is a family run farm established five years ago, after a transition from sugarcane to coffee with the aim of showcasing the potential of Nandi Hills as an emerging specialty region. This lot is sourced from several nearby smallholder farmers in the Nandi Hills region, with whom Great Rift have a long term partnership. Nandi Hills sits along the edge of the Great Rift Valley at 1900-2100 meters, a high elevation zone traditionally known for tea. Coffee here is still young and many of the estates, including Great Rift, were planted within the last 10–15 years. The area is home to the Nandi people, whose long farming tradition and community driven land stewardship shape how coffee is grown today.

CITY
BRIGHT, MODERN,
FRUIT-FORWARD FLAVOURS.
The ripe arabica cherries are hand sorted and floated, before being fermented in sealed barrels for 96 hours. They are then slowly sun-dried, with regular turning of the cherries for even drying, creating a deeply fruity, jammy coffee. “Rich volcanic soils, cool misty mornings, and abundant sugarcane farms contribute to a naturally sweet and vibrant cup profile. As more producers invest in the region, Nandi Hills is quickly developing a reputation for clean, high-elevation coffees that offer a fresh, modern expression of Kenyan terroir.
Please note we only hold limited stock of these products, but we aim to roast at least two times a week (T&Cs apply)
How to brew
We normally lean toward filter brewing for the producer series as the method highlights the more complex and delicate flavours in lighter roasted coffee. As always, we default to the industry standard of 60g of coffee per litre of water as a starting point.
Tasting notes
Enticing stone fruit and berry aromatics leading to a cup full of stewed fruit flavours – blueberry, morello cherry and a pleasantly sweet and sour finish. This is all layered with chocolaty, full-bodied elements. Enjoy as a vibrant and fruity batch brew.
