B- Corp Month continues throughout March and to coincide with this week’s International Women’s Day we would like to talk about our investment in our supply chain partners and for this amazing project in Peru.
During 2024 we are funding the construction of Casa Café Femenino in the Jose Huanama Community. This will be a community centre for gatherings and will also be used as a temporary shelter for women and children fleeing abuse or violence.
The Casa Café Femenino project is in the San Jose Huanama community, in the Lambayeque region. It will directly benefit fifteen families and be a resource for the wider community. The building will also provide temporary shelter to abused women and children. This is a true partnership with the community. Our funds will cover building material costs, such as the cement, plaster, door, and windows, but also tables and chairs and a bed and bedding. Members of the local community will provide the labour to construct the building.
We have been working with these communities, and with Café Femenino, since we started Dark Woods ten years ago, and our relationship with them goes back further than that. Long may that continue.
